The Oyster Shack has always been about a few simple things - good food, a warm welcome, and the joy of bringing people together by the water. We're a small family-and-friends run restaurant, and every plate we serve comes from the same place: a love for our patch of coast and the community around it.

OUR MISSION
We want to become Devon's most loved seafood restaurant, known not just for great food, but for the memories people make: a place you return to, a place that feels familiar, and a place that feels like yours.
Our approach is simple; we prioritise quality over flash, people over polish, and food that speaks for itself! It’s a refined but relaxed way of doing things - thoughtful, but never overdone!
More than anything, we want the Shack to be a place where memories are made. For long-overdue catch-ups, family meals, and celebrations that feel special without ever needing to try too hard.

Life at The Shack changes with the seasons - and we wouldn't have it any other way!
In the spring and summer, we head outside under the wonderful Devon sun! The BBQ is on, and everything opens up into long, sun-filled days by the sea. Think fresh, vibrant, and lighter plates that are perfect for warmer weather. In the autumn and winter, things slow down as days get shorter. We head inside to our cosy, more intimate restaurant. Think warming, rich, and comforting flavours that are perfect for colder days!

We’ve always believed that great seafood starts long before it reaches the kitchen. The kitchen champions local suppliers and seasonal produce, with a focus on high-quality ingredients sourced from Devon's coastline and surrounding producers. Supporting local isn’t just something we talk about – it’s part of how we operate every day.

We are also committed at the core to maintaining and improving the quality of the environment in our local area and nationally. This year, we were invited by Devon District Council to take part in their Decarbonisation programme. Read more about the actions we are taking here.
