When you visit The Shack you will see donation envelopes on the tables which all go to The Fishermen’s Mission who provide support to fishermen and their families, without whom we wouldn’t have the wonderful experiences we enjoy so much.

Why do we do it?

We don’t often think about it when we’re tucking into our catch of the day, but fishing remains the most dangerous peacetime occupation in the UK; that’s why fishermen need support 24-hours a day, every day of the year.  Our fishermen face daily danger, difficulty and poverty to bring us our food, and The Mission is there to support them when they need it the most.

For more than 130 years the only national charity dedicated to the cause has offered financial, pastoral and spiritual support as well as a vital emergency response service to fishermen and their families when there has been an accident, if they are taken ill, are facing poverty, are bereaved or simply need someone to talk to.

This support comes at a cost and The Fishermen’s Mission depends on gifts and legacy giving; they don’t receive government funding or lottery money.  For every £1 donated, 88p goes straight into providing essential welfare and support for our fishermen and their families and we are proud to support their ongoing work.
