How did we get here?

The Oyster Shack—never has a name represented a place so literally.   Having said that, we’ve come a long way since the days of old and we are loving every minute of it!    Back in the nineties, the Shack was quite a difference place altogether, just an oyster farm with purification tanks.   Oyster lovers would arrive and buy their oysters, bringing with them a picnic lunch, shucking their own oysters and eating them with their own crusty bread and bottle of wine or two!!     Very soon an enterprising local man saw an opportunity not to be missed and turned the Shack into a restaurant, and the rest, as they say, is history!

We are delighted to be the hidden gem of the West Country, a unique seafood experience where our ethos is “Keep it simple”.  We cook it, crack and serve it and you do the rest.   Our lobsters and crabs all come from Salcombe, our fish is locally caught and delivered daily, and we have a delicious Wine List too.   The Oyster Shack has an entry in all the leading Restaurant Guides, great reviews from the top food critics with national acclaim.  So, don’t just read about us, give us a ring and come and experience the best seafood in the most brilliant atmosphere.

We look forward to seeing you soon.    In the meantime, do have a look through our press cuttings and news items on our website and we will be in touch soon,

 Love,

The Crew at The Shack
